aww to travel

I seriously have a case of the travel bug these days. Maps are starting to overtake our house. Matt's old roommate loved maps and I guess I never really realized how much I did until I was always staring at his! Matt & I (along with a few friends) have started planning a Europe trip for next year which is what I woke up thinking about this morning...these will do for now...

And the next DIY project that I definitely need to create this summer...

it's the people that matter

Matt and I have lived in Seattle for over two years now which seems crazy to me. Time sure does fly by. For the entire first year that I lived here, my heart was still back in Montana. I missed my family, friends, and my comfort zone. I was having fun in Seattle but was in denial that it was my new "home". I would often talk to Matt about when we would move back, looking up jobs, etc. After a while, I realized that I was starting to make him feel bad about living and working here. Essentially, that was why I was here and he felt as though he was holding me back from being truly happy. I then decided that I needed an attitude change and quick!

Now, after two whole years in Seattle, I finally feel like this is my home. I think it mostly has to do with the amazing people that in are in our lives which makes me realize that I could be happy anywhere...it's the people that matter. We have such precious friends and an amazing community group through our church. If we were to pick up and leave now, it would be hard to do so...leaving people that we love and our first home that we've ever known together. I don't know if we'll be here forever but for now, I'm just grateful...extremely grateful.

I'm back and it's summer!

Wow! It's been a while... 25 days to be exact. A lot has been going on in the past few weeks and I have a feeling it is just a glimpse into our summer. I'm gaining an appreciation for having a regular schedule and being able to come home to our little apartment every evening but being away is also refreshing!

Well, April 22nd was my last day of student teaching and on April 29th, I graduated...finally. It has been a long road but I am thankful that I followed through with the program and finished. After graduation in Montana, I drove to South Dakota and spent the week with my sweet granny. Growing up, my sister and I would always spend a week with her during the summer so we tried to re-live those same traditions while I was there...mostly just going to the famous Twist Cone every single night for ice cream. Not good for the belly, Granny!

We then celebrated my graduation by spending this last weekend in San Diego with our good friends, Brianne and Erik. Their friends were kind enough to host our entire weekend, taking us on many fun adventures throughout the city and we landed at the Hotel Del on Coronado island each evening which was sure a treat! It is a beautiful resort with a beautiful view of the ocean. The weather wasn't too hot although and the only time we went into the water, Matt unfortunately was stung by a stingray just hours before we hopped on our plane to come home. Perfect way to end a trip! Here are some photos:

awww loves.

So yep, that was the last of our fun for now. On Monday morning, Matt and I started a 10-day cleanse (we're not starving ourselves, we get to eat 5 times a day!) to rejuvenate our bodies and start fresh with our eating habits for the summer. All this traveling causes us to eat horribly because we can't be at home to cook and everyone wants to feed us treats when they are hosting us! Today is day 4 and man, I am craving EVERYTHING unhealthy. This is exactly why we need to do this...to cut the crap! I actually had a dream about lemon sugar cookies last night...can you say fat kid? Seriously.

So wish us luck with that and I'll report back when we're done! Ok...back to more job hunting. Not a fun process but I'm trusting that the right opportunity will present itself in time. Prayers are appreciated :)
